BYU had its chances to put some distance between the Jayhawks earlier. At the end of the first half, Retzlaff had BYU inside the five-yard line with 39 seconds left. The Cougars had two timeouts. But inside of running the ball, the offense opted for a fade route that was intercepted in the end zone.

Call it mistake-filled. Call it the clock striking midnight on BYU’s magical season at 11:37 p.m. MST, some 23 minutes to spare before Cinderella turned into a team that couldn’t find paydirt when it mattered most.

Jalon Daniels threw for 169 yards, Dylan Neal ran for two touchdowns and Kansas upset No. 7 BYU 17-13 on Saturday night to hand the Cougars their first loss of the season.
